Where Do Your Donations Go?—Langford Elementary

Story times are extra special in Ms. Caraveo’s class this year, thanks to the Literati Club Members who gave books to our donation program.

When we visited Langford Elementary School, Ms. Caraveo’s second graders were in the middle of reading time. Some read solo, adorned with rainbow stickers and festive Irish bandanas. Others read to each other, sounding out new words as they read aloud.

They’d each chosen a book from their freshly-stocked book shelves.

On behalf of our Club Members, Literati donated about 15,000 kids books to Austin Independent School District’s public schools. Teachers got to choose as many books as they wanted for their classrooms—and their curious students prove that your contributions have a real impact on children and classrooms in the community.

In this photo, Ms. Caraveo is reading a book called “Dragons Love Tacos,” a food group near and dear to our hearts in Austin, Texas. The kids picked it themselves! And we loved seeing your contributions in action, helping young readers thrive.

A big hug and a thank you to Club Members for helping us bring the magic of reading to all kids.

Long Live Literature!
