In Spring 2025, we’re diving headfirst into the world of video games with Story Arcade—a theme that’s sure to be a critical hit among your students. Here are a few ways you can transform your space into a vibrant, immersive game world that inspires readers to explore the whole book fair. (Gotta read ‘em all!)
- Pixel-Perfect Paradise: Imagine stepping into a world where pixels come to life! Decorate your library with giant pixelated characters from beloved video games like Minecraft, Sonic, or Pokémon. Consider setting up a dedicated “Pixel Art Station” where students can create their own pixel masterpieces to adorn the walls.
- Power-Up! Reading Nooks: Turn your reading nooks into cozy gaming retreats full of game-inspired books and graphic novels, as well as educational games that build literacy and critical thinking skills.
- Interactive Quests: Engage students in a book fair scavenger hunt where participants must locate books based on clues inspired by their favorite video game characters or settings. Award prizes such as chocolate coins to those who complete the quests successfully.
- Bonus Level Workshops: Host workshops in class that bridge the gap between gaming and literature. Explore how both game designers and authors nurture their creative processes.
