While a single friendship can make the new kid in school a little less new, imagine the difficulties of being the new kid and having a name that is seemingly unpronounceable. Korean illustrator Yangsook Choi (our featured April illustrator) pulls from personal experience and does a masterful job of creating empathy for the immigrant experience.
