Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters

Inspired by a folk tale published in an 1895 collection, Caldecott Honor winner John Steptoe has set the classic Cinderella story in an ancient city in Zimbabwe to spectacular effect. This is the story of two beautiful sisters whose similarities are only superficial. Nyasha is kind and considerate, but Manyara is selfish and spoiled. When the king decides to choose a bride from among the most eligible bachelorettes, both sisters travel to the capital city. But only one can be chosen.
